BIOGRAPHY

GENRE: INSPIRATIONAL/ADULT CONTEMPORARY

Multi-talented singer/songwriter Tommy Job has been called the "unforgettable voice and face" of Contemporary Christian Music. With a powerfully soulful voice he has been compared to Michael McDonald and Michael Bolton and has touched the hearts of thousands. With his melodious mix of R&B, gospel, jazz and soul his music and vocal style spans all genres.

Tommy has a unique and interesting background indeed. Born in Korea, but raised in the United States, Tommy spent his formative years in Illinois and Iowa before settling in New York City. He began studying music at nine years old and by eleven he was playing guitar at his church. At fourteen, he began taking piano lessons from his instructor who was a music minister in the South Bronx. It was then that his life took a direction that he believes was all in God's plan for him.

Tommy became involved in public ministry beyond his local church and traveled nationwide participating in retreats, revivals and college meetings. It was during this time that Tommy began to seriously pursue songwriting. "I began to see the Lord seriously bless people through my songs. From that point on, songwriting became my passion. "With encouragement from David Choe, a legend in the Korean-Christian community, Tommy took a leap of faith in 2001 and moved to South Korea to start his ministry. After a few months, he connected with a U.S. army chaplain who asked him to lead worship for The Rock service. The Rock was a contemporary service on Yongsan Army Garrison in Seoul, and specifically geared toward young GIs. While leading worship, Tommy not only played for the men and women in uniform, but was requested to perform for generals and other military dignitaries.

Spending two years writing songs and recording, Tommy wrote and produced, Stand Upon the Rock, in 2003. His latest 2008 release, Worship: New Song of Praise he wrote and co-produced as well. With a musical style that appeals to masses and crosses genres and generations, Tommy continues to spread his message of hope and faith to people around the world.

QUOTES

"On the CD [Worship:] New Song of Praise, Tommy has achieved a uniquely honest artistic presentation of his songs within a subtle variety of musical styles.  Serious song writers and musicians strive for this goal but few make it happen. I can testify to Tommy's triumph because I am able to turn off my mental "music business mode" and simply be ministered to by his work. That's rare for me."

-Rick Hammond, Slingshot Records

Tommy Job's [Worship:] New Song of Praise is one of the most accessible worship projects I've heard in the last few years. The flow and sing-a-bility of the music and lyrics make it easy to enter into a personal time of worship and praise. It is everything a worship album should be."
