Nashville, TN-based Americana/country rocker Heath Forbes has never aspired to be the next version of anybody. He just wants to be the first version of himself. Growing up in rural Louisiana, Heath was first drawn to play music by blues-based rock & roll bands like Led Zeppelin, Cinderella, and even Jerry Lee Lewis. This was probably not the norm for a kid growing up in the mid 1990's. Later, while attending the University of Louisiana (Monroe) on a football scholarship, Heath began playing in local bar bands. During this time he became influenced by Southern-based alt-rock bands like Better than Ezra and Drivin N Cryin. His band was regulars on the college scenes of Louisiana and surrounding states. After graduating college Forbes took his music to New Orleans. In the dark and gritty life of the Crescent City his songwriting flourished and after the hurricane of 2005, Forbes left New Orleans and relocated to Shreveport, LA. By this time, his musical style had began to morph into more of a country sound. He fell right in with the Texas music movement that was happening right across the state line. Playing dive bars with bands like Reckless Kelly, Randy Rogers Band, and other red dirt artists, Heath found his niche. After some time in Shreveport, countless hours in bars, and thousands of miles on the road, Forbes was ready to make the move to Nashville. Some say he's a bit wild, but shouldn't be swayed by the rock & roll vibe. Forbes has solid country roots. Heavily influenced by eclectic country artists like Steve Earle, Jerry Reed, and Dwight Yoakam and in typical Nashville fashion, Forbes packed up everything he owned into a small trailer and moved to Music City. He had no place to live and had never even visited Nashville. It can be an overwhelming place to be, but he seems to thrive with his back against the wall. Since moving to Nashville, Forbes has surrounded himself with some great musicians and produced what some say is his best recording to date. The album "Caught in the Middle & a Little Between..." was released in the Spring of 2010 to several positive reviews. Heath is home in Nashville and will keep working hard to have his music heard. He doesn't want to be the next anybody. He just wants to create good music that earns the listener's respect and to be the first Heath Forbes. So far, so good..
